THE NEED

An entertainment industry wanted to design, develop, and validate the functionality of a pantograph with a set of specific movements and motion profiles.

SOLUTION PROVIDED

Quadrant’s team closely worked with the client, collected the exact requirements, and designed a pantographic system that worked using multiple timed pneumatic actuation. We defined the sizing of the component including sizing the maximum stroke length and operational timing of the pneumatic cylinder system as per the requirements of the client. We also performed design level motion analysis of the system to the required spec and configured the motor based on maximum required forces and actuation lengths.

AS A RESULT,

The design developed is subjected to transient analysis to check the components for strength, and the operational fatigue life of the entire system. Analysis results provided the maximum base reaction of the system, which helped in designing the anchor and embedment length of the complete assembly. This allowed the client to save on costs and time, as there’s no need to create a physical prototype and test it.
