The problem of contact mechanics, deformations due to stress are frequent in custom designed knee implants. Design and life of these components are of parametric importance in the design of the implants. The Quadrant team has extensively analyzed the above stated problem and provides accurate solution for the same.
The method of finite element analysis has been deployed in order to completely analyze the custom designed knee implants. In addition to FEA analysis, Hertzian contact analysis and associated calculations were performed to capture the effect of localized deformations and stress in the region of importance. The perfect balance between strength and biocompatibility requirements has been brought out via Parametric design and analysis procedure.
AS A RESULT,
On application of the above stated analysis, effective and optimized custom based knee implants were designed. The required strength along with compatibility of the design was assured.
