THE NEED
Internal combustion engines are continuously subjects to thermal loading and pressure fluctuations. An optimal design and knowledge of sustainable engine temperature is important in order to counter thermal fatigue of engines.

SOLUTION PROVIDED
Quadrant team has applied its expertise to predict the temperature map and flow of air and liquid during engine operation using transient thermal analysis to check for the suitable design and optimum engine temperature. The team also investigated on design on sound emitted by the engine. Sound quality and noise level during operation are also great factors contributing to effective design of the engine. The effective noise level through airborne noise pathway and structural borne pathway were also studied.
AS A RESULT,
The analysis of temperature, air and liquid flow helped to mitigate the excessive operating temperature and validate the design and material of the components for its fatigue life by optimizing the intake and exhaust system for better cooling and increased efficiency. Sound analysis has helped in designing good sealing of the system and proper bolting and harnessing of the system to reduce the system vibration.
