THE NEED

Brakes, the most important part of any automobile. It’s important to completely design and analyze the brakes when subjected to continuous operation. Also, the wear and tear from continuous operation at wear pads, the brake rotors are subjected to elevated temperatures due to the friction caused between the pads and the rotor. So, it’s significant to make sure the material and design can withstand the higher operating temperature.

SOLUTION PROVIDED

We extensively involved in the analysis of brakes and varying the designs and material to withstand higher cycle fatigue life or damage and in the calculation of Heat Flux and temperature of the material. In addition to fatigue analysis, fracture/durability analysis was also performed which focusses on crack initiation, damage tolerance analysis due to continuous wear and tear or flawed manufactured size.

AS A RESULT,

We have found how the material selection while manufacturing the rotors and brake pads affect the heating characteristics and found the best material and design cues that generate less heat and dissipate more heat into the air.
